Standing Committee on Sexual & Reproductive Health and Rights including HIV & AIDS (SCORA) is one of the standing committees of CIMSA that focuses on issues related to sexual and reproductive health and rights, including gender based violence. SCORA’s activities are carried out through comprehensive education-based methods targeting students, the general public, and key populations at high risk of sexually transmitted infections, including HIV & AIDS.
SCORA believes that “The only way of fighting AIDS is through prevention, and the only way of prevention is through education.” In its approach, SCORA CIMSA implements the Peer Education Continuum (PEC) system, an ongoing peer education method. This approach is considered more effective in SCORA’s context because the subject matter is still regarded as a taboo by much of society. SCORA often collaborates with external organizations that share the same goals and purposes, including UNFPA, UNAIDS, Kemenkes RI, and many others. Our vision is to become a forum for self-development and activities of medical students in Indonesia to improve sexual and reproductive health, with a positive, measurable, and accountable impact.
